  • Bookkeeping is a lot older than you might first think. The double entry system that is used by accountants to record your income, expenses, assets and liabilities was in fact created by a man called Luca Pacioli, in Italy back in 1494.

  • Accountants play an incredibly important role in the Oscars awards. Whilst you might think this is simply accounting for the big event, it is actually accountants who count the ballots for each award. This has been the case since 1935. So a team of accountants are the first people to know the Oscar winners.
  • The word bookkeeping is the only word in the English language that has three sets of double letters placed next to one another – There are other words that have three sets of double letters but they are separated by a hyphen.
